Update ... 8 Feb

  1. Completed and e-mailed Task List to Dr Cheung
  2. E-mail reply from CNB. Request for formal letter for assistance. Will call them on 11 Feb (Fri). Need also to speak to Dr Cheung on this.

Reflection
I seem to be a little slow in things ... But at least I am glad that things are getting along. This is good but NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Need to set aside more time and be more discipline in doing the dissertation!!!

Restarting My Dissertation

Just came out of Dr Cheung's office ... ... I think I learnt more than what I had bargined for in the hour and a half with him. It feels good that we had both talked and planned what we'd wanted to do. It was a bonous that we could share on some common interests, which included parenting!

I am supposed to do a list of To Dos that I have to e-mail to him, but for now, I thought it would be terrfic that I restart this blog to get myself into the 'mood' of things.

What I Did Today

  1. Wireless @ NIE. Got my notebook enabled to use at NIE. Glad that I got this done as I discovered my userid for Libris has expired!!! Now I can access all the e-stuff from home.
  2. URLs. Visited the Central Narcotics Bureau's (CNB) website to check if there be someone I can contact ... obviously no!!! Will try to get the Choices magazine and call someone tomorrow.
  3. Readings. Visited Ingenta Select. Managed to find a journal. Drugs: Education, Prevention & Policy. Browse through several issues. Vol 11. No 4-6. Nothing interesting. Will try again ...

MA (IDT) Dissertation

Why a Blog ... ...
This is my first posting for my Dissertation ... ... It's been almost 2 months since I met up with my supervisor, Dr Cheung Wing Sum. I am attempting to 'restart' my dissertation by posting what I had 'done' from my last meeting with him so that I can track my progress.

The Need for Black / White
It is also my wish that through this blog I can (1) 'force' myself to do a reading or two every week so and (2) to keep pace with my target of completing my dissertation by April 2004! Having something written in black and white would also, hopefully 'motivate' me towards my target.

Keeping Things Together
In writing a blog, I hope too to keep my things in a easily accessible place where I can find. The blog would also help me to 'organise' my literature review portion of the dissertation. All being said, I hope that through this blog, I am forced to be more disciplined in my learning ... ... to be more consistent and responsible for my own learning.
